Retirement community moves
Moves into Marin retirement communities, sized to the new apartment and set up before the day ends.
Where a move into a retirement community goes wrong
The boxes are rarely the hard part. The hard part is that a lifetime of furniture is about to meet a smaller floor plan and a fixed move-in day, and the sorting that should have taken weeks gets squeezed into the last few days.
Farnsworth's packing guidance starts in the right place: decide what to throw away, give away or sell before you pack anything, and give yourself enough time to make those calls. That saves money and leaves less to pack and unpack. It also means the people living through the move are not deciding about a grandmother's sideboard at midnight.

How Farnsworth works with the community
Each plan is drawn for the resident, not the house: comfort and convenience come first, and the move is timed with the community itself. The crew works closely with retirement communities throughout Marin County to keep each transition smooth for the resident moving in.
The work runs from careful packing through transportation to storage. In practice that means blanket-wrapped furniture, careful boxes, beds and large pieces taken apart and put back together, and a place to hold what will not fit in the new apartment yet.
That last piece matters. Mover-managed storage lets goods go from the home straight to the Farnsworth warehouse on Francisco Blvd in San Rafael with the same crew, so a family can take its time deciding what stays, what goes to relatives and what comes out of storage later.
The day after the move
A move like this is finished when the new apartment feels like home, not when the truck leaves. Unpacking and placement are part of what Farnsworth does, along with reassembling anything that came apart, so the residents are not left standing among cartons.
One Google reviewer said the crew took their time to make sure everything was secured and packed correctly, and that is the standard a family should expect from anyone handling a parent's belongings. Valuable pieces such as jewelry, china, silverware or antiques should be listed on Mayflower's High-Value Inventory form ahead of time.
